Arabian Centres Wins Two New Media Awards in Middle East & North Africa Shopping Centre Competition for its “Arabian Centres Unified Platform” and “Arabian Centres Web Launching” Campaigns

The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has recognised and honoured the shopping centre industry’s most cutting-edge properties, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends, as well as outstanding examples of design and development throughout the world through its Global Awards programs. In keeping with this tradition, and as part of its exclusive shopping centre awards program, ICSC is pleased to announce that Arabian Centres, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has been named a 2012 Gold and Silver Awards winner in the New Media category. The 2012 Middle East & North Africa Shopping Centre Awards are designed solely to recognise outstanding achievement in four categories: Traditional Marketing, New Media, NOI Enhancement, Design & Development, and Retail.

Recognizing the importance of using emerging technology as a marketing tool to enhance the customer experience and drive more customers its malls, Arabian Centres developed a unified platform using a set of emerging technologies to create and manages its online presence. The platform is based in the cloud to ensure sustainability and maintain information consistency across its 14 current malls and any upcoming malls in the future. To launch its malls newly innovative 12 websites and Facebook pages to the public, Arabian Centres adopted an integrated digital marketing approach to capitalize on its 14 malls across nine major cities and two countries. Over the course of seven weeks, Arabian Centres hosted a competition which asked its customers to use the company’s websites, Facebook application, Twitter accounts, QR codes and e-mails to answer one question. By the end of the competition, Arabian Centres Company reached more than three million online customers with 90 million impressions.

The 2012 Middle East & North Africa Shopping Centre Awards competition was open to shopping centre owners, developers, management companies, architects, designers, and retailers. For entries in the Marketing; New Media; and NOI Enhancement categories the majority of the program must have been implemented between July 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012. Within these categories, shopping centres which have designed and implemented the most successful marketing programmes and initiatives that added to a shopping centre’s or company’s bottom line are honored. Successful projects such as advertising campaigns, cause related marketing programmes, social media, mobile marketing, grand openings, sales promotions are recognised within the marketing category. The NOI category recognizes operations, leasing and the overall shopping centre management team.
